Sentiment Analysis on the Details Pages
Sentiment analysis in Altmetric uses AI and LLM to interpret the opinions expressed in online mentions of research, currently focused on posts from selected social media.
This feature assigns sentiment scores ranging from -3 (strongly negative) to 3 (strongly positive), helping users understand whether posts are supportive, critical, or neutral. Displayed in Altmetric Explorer and Details Pages, sentiment data adds valuable context to engagement metrics by revealing how research is perceived.

Sentiment Analysis in Details Pages
Sentiment Breakdown Chart
On the main Details Page, you'll see a visual breakdown of the sentiment of the social media attention your research output has received. This chart shows the percentage of mentions falling into each sentiment category, providing a quick overview of the overall reception.
Sentiment on the social media Tabs
When you navigate to the dedicated social media tab on the Details Page, each individual post will display its assigned sentiment rating (e.g., Positive, Negative, Neutral) next to it. This allows you to connect the overall sentiment breakdown with specific mentions.
Feedback on Sentiment
On the social media tab, you may see an option to provide feedback on the sentiment score assigned to a particular post. This feedback helps us refine the AI model for more accurate sentiment analysis.
