Mentions are online posts (e.g. news articles, policy documents or blog posts) that reference a research output. To be considered as a mention, a post needs to:
Appear on an attention source tracked by Altmetric
Include the appropriate data required for tracking by Altmetric (e.g. a URL to a research output)
Once mentions are collected by Altmetric, they appear on the output's Altmetric Details Page and in the Altmetric Explorer. Our algorithm will then collect all mentions data and calculate the Altmetric Attention Score for the output. Mentions data and analysis will also appear in the Explorer.
Mentions are collected automatically from the online sources provided they match the technical requirements.
