This connector enables Pure customers to populate Explorer for Institutions (EFI) with their publications data with the minimum of technical effort.

Our connector, powered by the Pure API, imports publications, people, affiliations and departmental hierarchies into Explorer for Institutions, enabling you to search and browse online attention surrounding outputs from your institution, alongside the entire Explorer database.

Over the last year, we’ve developed a number of new EFI connectors for current research information systems (CRIS) and institutional repositories. This includes VIVO ProfilesSymplectic Elements, .CSV imports, homegrown APIs and harvesting via OAI-PMH from repositories such as DSpaceEPrints and bepress.

Pure customers can be up and running with Explorer for Institutions quickly – simply grant us access to your Pure API endpoints (if they aren’t open already) and we can populate Explorer for Institutions with your institutional data.

How does the Pure connector work?

The Pure connector for Explorer for Institutions harvests publication information via an institution’s Pure API endpoint. This means EFI can be automatically populated with the relevant Pure data. We require access to author names, author identifiers, departments, department identifiers, publications and the organisational hierarchy from Pure in order to populate EFI.

How are the publications, authors, and affiliations data updated, and how often?

We update Pure EFI instances on a regular basis. Updates include harvesting new and recently modified publications, affiliation changes, new authors, and so on. So if a new publication starts receiving lots of online attention, you can follow the curve of discussion as soon as the paper gets picked up.
